4/4 Surfaced and Straight-lined Lumber has a net thickness of 25/32" One edge has been straight-lined leaving one rough edge to cut to give your board its finished dimensions.

4/4 Rough Lumber

4/4 Rough Cut Lumber has a net thickness of 1"  The boards must still be dressed with a planer, but this gives woodworkers more options in customizing a finished thickness.
